I just wanted to share an idea that my be helpful, especially during challenging and uncertain times.
Surrender + Acceptance = Freedom
I’ll spare you the vocabulary lesson as I trust you all are smart enough to know the meaning of these words or can at least look them up on your own :)
In order to be free from worry, frustration, anxiety, or stress, try surrendering and accepting what is. Release the need to control or change anything or anyone a.k.a. stop fighting against what is and insisting it/they should be different.
I’ve said: “It is what you say it is.” So, if in the face of a challenging situation that you cannot understand, control or change you choose to let it be, knowing that this too shall pass and all will be well, then that is what it will be for you. But… if you choose to be angry, resentful and discouraged, demanding that it must be different and stomping your feet, then that is what it will continue to be for you – a painful problem.
You determine how you will experience your life by how you choose to perceive and respond to what happens to you and around you. Do what you can to improve a situation if it’s possible or help someone else if they are open to it, but if not, let it go and shift your attention to what’s best for you. I recommend prayer and meditation as a passive, yet powerful way to make a positive contribution to any challenging situation.
Mel’s Two Cents: If you value the freedom to have peace and joy, choose to surrender and accept what is; then focus on what you really want and what makes you feel good and take steps in that direction. I’ll wager you’ll feel like a ton of bricks have been lifted from your shoulders. And yes, this does require you to muster up the courage to be selfish and put your own well-being first.
