Hello Friends,
So how do we transform from the furry caterpillar into the beautiful butterfly instead of conforming and hanging out with squirming worms? Very simply – through authenticity, vulnerability and self confidence.
transform
1 a : to change in composition or structure; b : to change the outward form or appearance of; c : to change in character or condition
conform
1 : to be similar or identical; also : to be in agreement or harmony 2 a : to be obedient or compliant; b : to act in accordance with prevailing standards or customs
Be authentically yourself and do not compromise to fit in. Be open and honest about your needs and desires. Trust yourself to know what’s best for you and that you are worthy and valuable. This is easy to say but not so easy to practice as we’ve been taught to conform to the standards and vision of our family, community and society at large. Yet we are aware that those who have achieved great success and initiated change in the world were not conformist. They were considered odd, eccentric, trouble makers or crazy as hell. I like to think of them as trailblazers, pioneers, innovators and heroes.
Mel’s Two Cents: I invite you to let out your inner weirdo by daring to be authentic, vulnerable and self-confident. It may feel scary or lonely at first but the payoff is so worth it. What does the pay off look like you ask? It looks like feeling free and in control of your life; a sense of fulfillment and joy; and being at peace with yourself and others no matter what’s happening.
Too often we blame others for betraying or abandoning us but in reality we do it to ourselves by “selling-out, settling, sacrificing or keeping our big mouths shut” in response to our fears and doubts. Learn to love and please yourself first, and allow others to do the same.
Happy transforming!
Until next time.
Mel
