How did I get here?!

How did I get here?!

Hello Friends,

I was recently asked by a colleague: How did you do it – how did you get to where you are now? And where is that you may be asking?

Well, here I am: I finally decided to come out of the closet of my comfortable life and start my personal business. I went live with my website and blog recently, I am opening my office in South Brunswick, NJ this week and I am in the process of publishing my poetry book. I am loving every exhilarating moment of it, feeling like a little kid on Christmas eve, excited to open all of my wonderful gifts knowing I will love them even though I have no idea what they are yet!

So, how did I do it? How did I allow myself to be vulnerable and courageous enough to “make it happen”? I did it by using what Nikola Tesla called creative visualization. You may have heard of him, he’s a famous inventor and genius. He visualized his desired outcome in is imagination. He consistently and methodically worked out the details through trial and error until he reached his desired outcome or better – all in his imagination – then proceeded to do it physically, and it worked out just as he had imagined.

Imagination is the seat of creation. Everything that exists today was once the product of someone’s imagination, flight of fancy or seemingly impossible dream. Yet they knew it to be real in their mind, heart and soul, and never gave up until it became a physical reality. There are countless people in history who were thought to be crazy or wasting their time but who are now celebrated.

Our intuition speaks to us through our imagination. It communicates through thoughts and feelings that seem to appear out of nowhere nudging us to move in a particular direction, or through images in our mind that seem like a fanciful dream. It often feels peaceful and pleasant, expansive and hopeful, yet we often dismiss it because we don’t see how it can happen – it’s not accompanied by a clearly detailed 10-step plan with a guaranteed successful outcome.

Mel’s Two Cents: I invite you to entertain those butterflies in your tummy and flights of fancy. Spend a bit of quiet time breathing deeply, daydreaming and giggling, like you used to do as a kid – when you and your friends created awesome adventures in a seemingly mundane back yard or neighborhood park. Allow your mind to conjure up images of what could be if only… Get a journal or small notebook to write down the ideas that come to you. Talk about it with a trusted friend you know will not judge or ridicule you. And above all, follow those intuitive nudges with the curiosity of a child who knows he doesn’t know but wants to learn and have new experiences. These nudges will lead you step by step to your desired outcome, or something better than you ever imagined. Play with this. Have fun with it. Go down the rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland or rub the magic lamp to let the genie out so he can take you on a flying carpet ride. Life really can be amazingly awesome, all it takes is a little willingness. Are you willing? Can you even let the idea of the possibility in?

Until next time.

Mel
