Keep On Keeping On to the max

Keep On Keeping On to the max

Hello Friends,

It still feels as if the winds of change are raging and there is no sign of relief in sight but fear not my friends, they are dying down and the old adage comes to mind: it is always darkest before the dawn.

So what do we do when it feels like all hell is breaking loose, we’re in a bizarre alternate reality, all hope is lost, or we have no idea what to do or where to go from here?

STOP and JUST BREATHE! When you don’t know what to do – do nothing, take a break and wait for the right answer for you to arise. Attend to your daily responsibilities, take good care of your physical self and rest often.

Mel’s Two Cents: Here are a few exercises to try that I learned from Davidji, an internationally recognized meditation expert, stress-management coach, corporate trainer and author of Secrets of Meditation.

Reach for SODA
STOP – stop before taking any action
OBSERVE – objectively observe what is happening around you
DETACH – take a step back from what’s happening and take a deep breath
AWAKEN – seek assistance or guidance from a mentor or master before moving forward

16 Seconds to Clarity / Pattern Interrupt
Inhale for 4 seconds – observe the air coming in
Hold for 4 seconds – observe how the air fills your lungs and tummy
Exhale for 4 seconds – observe the air going out
Hold for 4 seconds – observe the emptiness of air in your body
This exercise interrupts strong emotions, brings you into the present moment and helps clear your mind.

I often here “it is what it is” but I like to say “it is what YOU say it is” – you are the only one in control of your thoughts, beliefs and behaviors. You get to choose how you feel and what to do, so choose that which allows you to maintain your peace and enhances your joy.

May the force be with you my friends.

Until next time.

Mel
